Liminal Space: Sheryl Anaya, Tres Femme, Blind Alley, June 17 – 29, 2023
For Tres Femme, artist Sheryl Anaya explores the utility of ceramic spoons when combined into unexpected forms both feminine and functional. The sensuousness of the curves and the delicateness of the handmade ceramics are juxtaposed with the masculine construction of a ubiquitous stool joined with the weightiness of refractory cement and epoxy. Anaya notes, “With a nod to the body’s relationship to furniture and the spoon’s relationship to the mouth and food, Tres Femme begs the viewer to sit and eat, even if they can’t quite figure out how.”
